Important Info for Home at Turner Meet

Hi everyone,

The address for Turner is: 2211 S 55th St, Kansas City, KS 66106,

A few important reminders for when you arrive at Turner:

First, everyone needs to be there no later than 5:15. Please sign in when you arrive. Turner is a city/rec rules pool at a high school. The pool is 25 yards, 8 lanes, with stadium seating. Bring plenty of water, and if you tend to overheat, consider a portable fan, as the hallway near our area doesn’t always have AC—plan accordingly.

Our team area is on the pool deck, near the zero-depth pool, which is off-limits during the meet. Turner uses a one-way traffic pattern: enter by the clerk of course, race, and exit at the far end. If you have a handicap or are bringing someone with a handicap, please park in the front, as the back lot has stairs and is not suitable. When driving, don’t take I-35—use Antioch all the way from South OP.

Please have your swimmers practice diving off the blocks, as it’s a bit higher for this high school meet—remind them to do shallow dives. Also, during warm-up at 5:30, get them used to the wall for flip turns—sometimes it’s slippery, so just be cautious. And one more thing: all swimmers must sit with the team and not with their parents, as it will be a fast-moving meet.

Lastly, we still need timers for this meet to run properly. Right now, we only have one, and we need eight more, since we have an eight-lane pool. So, if you can help, please let me know as soon as possible.

This will be a fast-moving meet, so stay sharp, and remember, it’s okay to slow down if you need rest or hydration—your safety is the priority.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Abigale

About Us

MoKan Swim League

We are a strong parent run swim league that includes a mix of swim teams from City Parks and Recreation departments, a golf and country club, and health and tennis club.

During the months of June and July each year, weekly dual swim meets are hosted, for 5 weeks. Tuesday night meets for kids age 10 and under and Thursday night meets for kids 11-18 years of age.

We offer multi-level time achievement milestones to recognize each swimmers progress during the season (Novice, Level II and A times).

Culminating the season, we host a championship meet where all teams compete for ribbons, trophies and “bragging rights” over a two day period. (Timed Finals)
