Swim Meet 101

Swimmers compete within their age group and skill level in dual meets
once a week. Swimmers 10 and under compete on Tuesday nights and 11 and
up swimmers are on Thursday nights.

Swimmers should arrive at the pool between 5 and 5:15 PM and put
their stuff in the team area. Warm ups start at 5:30. When they arrive, they are
to check in with the coaches, and find the event board, write down the
numbers of their events, (usually on their arm). Each event has a number.

Swimmers are to stay in the team area, unless given permission by the coaches,
so that they are able to hear their event being called. Upon hearing their
number called, swimmers report to the coaches to receive their card. Swimmers take the card over to the Clerk of the Course and then are directed to their assigned lane to swim their event.

Meets can last until around 9 PM, (or later) so bring plenty to do (books, video games, cards, pillows, etc.) Snacks are allowed and water is strongly encouraged. Each swimmer is allowed to swim three individual events and a free relay.

Swimmers should bring extra towels and sweats.
