Happy Fourth of July & Team Reminders

Hi Team,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Fourth of July!

Today is also Coach Ann's birthday! If you know Coach Ann, please take a moment to send her a text and wish her a happy birthday. I'm sure she'd love to hear from you.

I also need everyone to let your coaches know if you or your swimmer plans to attend Championships (Champs). This information is very important as we begin planning for the end of the season.

Championships are an awesome experience, but they can also be a bit overwhelming if it's your first time. Champs are held at the Shawnee Mission Aquatic Center (SMAC).The good news is that the arena has an air-conditioned spectator viewing area, making it much more comfortable for families.

For those of you who have never attended Champs before, you're in for a really fun experience. Coach Ann and I highly recommend signing up with the meet photographer. He does an outstanding job capturing the swimmers throughout the competition, and the photos are something you'll treasure for years to come.

Please note: You must sign up at the meet with your swimmer's event, heat, and lane assignments so the photographer knows where to find them.

Please also remember that Championships are held over two days:

  • Tuesday: Novice Championships
  • Thursday: Level II and A Time Championships

For our older swimmers, don't forget that there is no meet this week, so enjoy the extra time off! Even though there isn't a meet, we still encourage everyone to attend practice as we continue preparing for the rest of the season.

I'd also like to let everyone know about our End-of-Year Team Party, which will be held on Friday, July 17, at Genesis Ridgeview. You should be receiving an email soon from Vicky Payne with all the details. If you don't know Vicky, she has three swimmers on the team in the 11 & Over age group and has done a wonderful job helping organize this event.

This party is a fantastic way to celebrate the end of an amazing season. It was always one of Coach Ann's favorite traditions! We'll have a potluck like you've never seen, along with a pool party and lots of fun for everyone.

I hope to see all of you there as we celebrate another great summer together!

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Thanks,

Abigale Coach

About Us

MoKan Swim League

We are a strong parent run swim league that includes a mix of swim teams from City Parks and Recreation departments, a golf and country club, and health and tennis club.

During the months of June and July each year, weekly dual swim meets are hosted, for 5 weeks. Tuesday night meets for kids age 10 and under and Thursday night meets for kids 11-18 years of age.

We offer multi-level time achievement milestones to recognize each swimmers progress during the season (Novice, Level II and A times).

Culminating the season, we host a championship meet where all teams compete for ribbons, trophies and “bragging rights” over a two day period. (Timed Finals)
